As with all types of installation there is only one way to install and that is the CORRECT WAY.

 

We have seen many installations, which are quite frankly poorly installed and where the customer has not received what they had  thought and actually paid for.

 

The first indication that all may not be well, is Price. We all like a good deal but the more the Price drops the less you will actually get.

 

For example, the dish should always be mounted on a concrete base if its going on a roof terrace, as drilling the terrace will cause you damp problems in the future as drilling will punchure the damp proof memebrane. And NEVER SIGN anything saying that you will not make a claim against them in the future if it does!

 

If a wall bracket is being used, make sure its fit for the purpose as there are some Cheaper wall brackets that are not the correct diameter and when the dish is tightened up on it, its never quite right. The correct diameter for a 1.9m dish is 80mm and the incorrect ones that are around, are 78mm which will make all the difference.

 

The next thing to look out for, never allow the installer to reuse old cable as this will only cause problems, and make sure the cable is designed for the job and not a cheap television coax.

 

If they say that you will be getting a freesat box then you should expect a UK freesat box and not a big sat box or alike, these boxes are ok but unlike freesat boxes, you have to rescan to get the latest channels and you do not get the 8 day programme guide or the BBC red button for the BBC sports multiscreen, news, weather, sport and much much more.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here are some examples of what else to look out for, some companies claim to be Sky trained and or have been installing for years, when in actual fact this may not be true. Using mobile numbers only, no office address , no proper invoice and no real back up service.

 

Always ask to see the Public Liability Insurance as this is most important and saves you any worries should the installer damage your property.
